Slow Cooker Carnitas

Tender slow cooked pork with just the right amount of tang and spice!

Ingredients

  • 3-4 lb pork shoulder or butt
  • 1 Tbsp chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp ground cumin
  • 1 Tbsp ground oregano
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 Tbsp minced garlic
  • 2 onions chopped into chunks
  • 1/3 cup orange juice fresh or bottled
  • 1/3 cup lime juice fresh or bottled
  • 1-3 Tbsp hot sauce

Instructions

  • Cut pork into 2-3 sections and rub oil into pork
  • Mix seasonings in small bowl and rub into pork on all sides
  • Place seasoned pork, garlic, onions, orange juice, and lime juice in slow cooker
  • Cover and cook for 8 hours on low or 4-5 hours on high
  • Optional: Preheat oven to broil and shred pork. Place on baking sheet and broil for about 3 minutes or until just slightly crisped on the ends
  • Optional: Drizzle hot sauce on top as desired
