The perfect combination of tart and sweet, this cranberry sauce is a holiday must-have and can be made ahead of time!
Cranberry Sauce
Ingredients
- 1/3 cup water
- 2/3 cup orange juice
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 12 oz bag cranberries, washed
Instructions
- Add water, orange juice, sugar, and brown sugar to a small pot on medium high heat. Bring to a boil and add cranberries.
- Reduce heat to medium low and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring and smashing cranberries occasionally with the back of the spoon.
- Allow to cool and set for 30 minutes or enjoy immediately.
Simple Cranberry Sauce
Not too much fuss here! We’re just bringing most ingredients to a boil, adding the cranberries, and waiting for them to boil until cooked enough. I love this cranberry sauce since it’s the perfect amount of sweet and tart.
Make it Ahead of Time!
For a big feast, I love prepping as much as I can ahead of time so the day of is less stress. This cranberry sauce is so easy to make ahead and then keep in the fridge for 3-5 days. Orange Juice: a staple in many cranberry sauce recipes, the orange juice adds sweetness while complimenting the cranberry flavor with citrus!
Sugars: Since the cranberries themselves are so tart, we’re adding some sugar to balance this out
Cranberries: the star of the show! A typical 12 oz bag works great in this recipe. Don’t forget to give them a wash before adding them to the pot.
